Listen to “Christmas Story -The Toy Workshop Mystery” on Spreaker.
At the North Pole, Santaβs Toy Workshop buzzed with excitement. Elves painted rocking horses, stuffed plush penguins, and tested model trains as they zipped around the sparkling workshop. Among the hardworking elves were two best friends: Ellie, who was clever and quick, and Finn, who always noticed the little details.
This year, however, a strange problem had disrupted their cheerful work. Toys were going missing! First, it was a glittering dollhouse. Then, a shiny set of building blocks. And just yesterday, a beautifully carved wooden train vanished from the workshop.
Santa called a meeting. βWe need to solve this mystery before Christmas Eve! The children are counting on us.β
Ellie raised her hand. βFinn and I can investigate! Weβll find out whatβs going on.β
Santa stroked his beard thoughtfully. βAlright, but be quick. Christmas is only three days away!β
The two elves set off on their mission, starting with the workshop floor. Ellie held a notebook while Finn examined the area. βHmm,β Finn muttered, crouching near a stack of toy boxes. βLook at these footprints. Theyβre small, like ours, but… thereβs glitter in them.β
Ellieβs eyes lit up. βThe Glitter Room! Letβs check there next.β
The Glitter Room was where finishing touches were added to toysβsparkly paint, shiny ribbons, and the magical sprinkles that made the toys extra special. When they arrived, they noticed something strange. A trail of glitter led to the back corner, where a large pile of empty ribbon spools sat.
Finn poked at the pile. βDo you think someoneβs hiding here?β
Before Ellie could answer, the pile shifted. Out popped a mischievous little creature with bright eyes and a fluffy tail.
βA snow squirrel!β Ellie gasped.
The squirrel chirped nervously and darted behind a shelf. Ellie and Finn carefully followed, finding a small nest made of ribbons and soft fabric scraps. Inside the nest were the missing toys.
βYouβve been taking the toys!β Finn exclaimed.
The snow squirrel chattered apologetically. Ellie noticed that it shivered, clutching a scrap of fabric for warmth.
βI think itβs cold,β Ellie said softly. βIt must have come inside the workshop to find a warm place.β
Finn nodded. βAnd it probably didnβt realize the toys werenβt for it.β
Ellie turned to the squirrel. βDonβt worry. Weβre not mad, but these toys need to go to children around the world. Letβs find you a cozy home outside where youβll be warm.β
The squirrel tilted its head, as if understanding.
Ellie and Finn worked quickly. They used scraps from the workshop to build a snug little house near the reindeer stables, where the squirrel could stay warm in the hay. The reindeer seemed to like their new neighbor, nudging it gently with their noses.
Back in the workshop, Ellie and Finn returned the missing toys to their shelves. Chief Elf Bernard was thrilled.
βYouβve saved Christmas!β he said, patting them on the back.
Santa beamed when he heard the news. βWonderful work, you two! As a reward, how about a special ride on the sleigh during our Christmas Eve deliveries?β
Ellie and Finn couldnβt believe their ears. βReally?β they said in unison.
βAbsolutely,β Santa said with a twinkle in his eye.
On Christmas Eve, Ellie and Finn soared through the night sky with Santa, their hearts full of joy. Down below, the snow squirrel watched from its cozy new home, waving its fluffy tail as the sleigh disappeared into the stars.
The End!
