The Little Bunny

Benny was a little bunny who lived in a cozy burrow with his mommy. He loved playing outside in the sunshine, hopping through the grass and chasing butterflies. But when the sun went down and the sky turned dark, Benny didn’t feel so brave anymore.

At bedtime, Benny would snuggle under his blanket and whisper, “I don’t like the dark, Mommy. It’s too scary.”

Mommy gave him a warm hug. “The dark isn’t scary, sweetie,” she said gently. “It’s just part of the day, and it can be full of special things.”

One night, Mommy had an idea. “Let’s try something fun,” she said. “It’s called the Brave Bunny Challenge. If you can stay calm in the dark and look around, you might find something wonderful!”

Benny blinked. “Really?” he asked. “Like what?”

“You’ll see,” Mommy smiled.

That night, after bedtime, Benny stepped just outside the burrow. He took a deep breath. It was quiet and still. The grass was cool, and the stars twinkled in the sky.

Benny looked up. “Wow,” he said. “The stars are like tiny night-lights!”

Then he heard a soft sound: “Hoo, hoo.”

Benny jumped! But it was only Oliver the Owl, sitting on a tree branch.

“Hello, Benny,” said Oliver kindly. “Are you out for a night walk?”

“I’m doing the Brave Bunny Challenge,” said Benny.

“Well done,” said Oliver. “There’s nothing to fear. Nighttime is calm and full of little surprises.”

Benny smiled and kept walking. He saw fireflies blinking like little flashlights in the grass. He heard crickets chirping a quiet song. He even saw the moon shining like a silver balloon in the sky.

“This isn’t so scary,” Benny said. “It’s kind of… nice!”

After his walk, Benny went back inside. Mommy was waiting with a big hug.

“How was the dark?” she asked.

“It’s not scary anymore,” Benny said proudly. “It’s quiet and sparkly and full of cool things!”

From that night on, Benny didn’t hide under his blanket anymore. He looked forward to seeing the stars, the moon, and hearing the nighttime sounds.

He had passed the Brave Bunny Challenge—and he was never afraid of the dark again.
